The Porto Santo Marine Protected Areas Network was established to protect the island’s unique coastal ecosystems and surrounding rocky islets, recognised for their exceptional biodiversity. By combining marine conservation with the sustainable use of natural resources, the network supports biodiversity, local livelihoods and nature-based tourism.
