The Cabo Girão Marine Natural Park protects ecologically important coastal marine habitats along Madeira’s south coast. The park is also home to the deliberately scuttled corvette Afonso Cerqueira, which has developed into an artificial reef, supporting marine biodiversity while providing opportunities for scientific research, monitoring and recreational diving.
